Some like'em long! Some like'em short!

Vintage clothing and vintage fashion are a HOT topic and is increasing every day!  Some fashionistas have loved and collected vintage for decades, while some are just becoming aware of the entire vintage scene.  There is a lot of talk on styles and eras of vintage.  Some people like a garment just the way it is and some add accessories in order to "style" it.  Recently a great customer of mine notified me on how she took a 70's maxi dress and shortened it to a tea length to fit her style.

As you can see in the picture above, the skirt part of the dress was cut at the waist and re-sewn to shorten the length of the dress.  As you can see from the picture the dress still has the gorgeous floral on the bottom of the skirt and not compromising the design in the print.

From time to time I will have fashion designers from New York, Chicago, California or other parts of the world that will contact me about a dress that I have in-stock.  These experienced designers are purchasing vintage dresses to use as sewing patterns for their new ideas of fashion!

Now for the disclosure on this whole topic of this blog, I am not advocating taking every piece of vintage clothing and reconstructing it.  This note today is to simply show how this particular dress looks before and after!

P.S. Do you like'em long or short?

I like long and short! No matter which way this dress was worn, it looks fab! I love vintage and would looove to have a vintage consignment boutique to frequent!!! I own a consignment store www.embellishconsignment.com, but rarely see vintage come through the door! Love your blog! www.embellishconsignment.com/blog
